Steven A. Ramsey made his first piece of glass at the age of ten. In the years that followed, Steven earned his BFA and MFA in Glass from the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Illinois State University respectively. He did his internship as a comparative study and tour of the glass schools and studios in Holland and Sweden including the factory school at Orrefors.
After graduate school, Steven worked for a time as an Illustrator and Graphic Designer in the Advertising Specialties Industry working on projects for Disney; Field and Stream, Outdoor Life; Mongoose and Trek Bicycles, Jerry Garcia and Dennis Rodman. Steven’s digital work has appeared on the cover of Printwear and Digital Screen and Display magazine and has been featured at MacWorld Expo and SIGGRAPH.
Steven turned to a career in education when offered a position to teach Glass at the Savannah College of Art and Design allowing him to focus his artistic exploration with glass. His glass art has been recognized three times by the Corning Museum of Glass in their annual international review of contemporary glass: New Glass Review. Steven markets his production line of blown glass and pate-de-verre vessels through the American Craft Council exhibitions and is represented by Marta Hewett Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
