Majesty University | Branding

Logos are the lifeline of a brand. If you have a logo that is profound and stands out from the crowd then you, my friend, have a solid foundation to build a brand. When designing this University, I wanted something rugged, tough, and had a sense of pride. Majesty University was just that. The school mascot is a lion; lions represent pride, courage, strength, power, and vitality. What more could have I asked for?

Here at Majesty University, you will gain a competitive edge among others when you obtain your degree. In 1965, we opened our doors to everyone who wanted to further their education and further themselves as human beings. To this very day, we are confident in our ability to equip you with the skills to always seize the someday with a degree through Majesty University.

WHO We ARE.

Located in the heart of the south, we have always focused on being the best and persevering. We are dedicated to our students and staff and provide a safe place for all to further their education. Home to over 10,000 students, we pride ourselves on a low faculty to student ratio and a high amount of success in workforce placement of our graduates.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

At Majesty University we have 80 undergraduate degree programs, 96 graduate degree programs, and 4 professional degree programs. That gives you plenty of options for study to seize the someday.

Admissions & Print

More than ever, we are seeing a decline in the number of students that are attending a University compared to a trade school or entering the workforce right away. Do you think that has anything to do with University marketing to prospective students? I think it does have a little gravitational pull to it, so when designing this I decided to throw the budget out the window and designed what I wanted to see when I got an “admissions packet.” So, if you were to apply to Majesty University you would get a box like the one pictured above that had many components to it, including next step prints, a t-shirt, a water bottle to stay hydrated, and a congratulations postcard. The thought behind this is accepted students could post a picture of the box that came in the mail on social media. This would be a potential bonus for the University because it could spread on social media organically, reducing the cost of social media campaigns to prospective students.

ADMISSIONS BOX

SHIRT

The shirt would be rolled so you could only see the “seize the someday”. This would expose others to the University even if the student decided that they were no longer going to attend -which is highly unlikely after a cool box like this that shows up on your doorstep!

POSTCARD

Behind every cool postcard is a social media post. This postcard sends a congratulatory message thanking you for all your hard work thus far, giving the feeling that Majesty University wants you because you are a hard-working individual and we want you to pursue a degree at our University. Who wants to go somewhere they are not wanted? No one.

NEXT STEPS PRINT MATERIAL

Continuing your education is not only a big deal but it’s an emotional time. A chapter has opened, and you are ready to take the next steps. You are possibly excited, happy, and proud. Honestly though? You’re nervous. This simple document that you will find in your admissions box will put your mind at ease when looking for the next steps to seize the someday at Majesty University. Need additional information on anything from how to sign up for classes, finding books for those classes, and more? Look no further, it’s all found in one convenient document.

BUSINESS CARDS

Finally, you will find some faculty business cards. A dean, an admission counselor, department chair, and your very own academic advisor. This will connect you with people across campus that will be able to answer any additional questions that you may have. At Majesty University we want the communication lines to be open with all students.

BRAND GUIDELINE

Now that you’ve seen a lot of the designs, I think that it is only fitting to design and produce a brand guideline for the University. One thing that would be included in this manual are do’s and don’ts with the logo, like spacing, colors, and right to left orientation. It would also include templates of presentations for faculty and staff alike to use. At Majesty University, we strive to have a complete look and ease of design for students to seize the someday.

CONCLUSION

"If you told me my freshman year this is how I would be finishing my BFA senior show I would have laughed and blew you off. But here’s why I’m happy it turned out this way."

Being flexible is hard. Having plans completely turned on its head is rough. Taping off exactly how you wanted your show to look on the wall in the gallery that your show was supposed to inhabit and then being told your show will continue, but completely online is soul crushing. All of those things hurt, and all of those things were probably worst-case scenario due to COVID-19 but let me tell you the skills that I have acquired since all of this has happened. I have learned to keep open means of communication with professors, and advisors. I retaught myself to code, and surprisingly I don’t completely hate it a second time around. I knew that people were struggling so I offered any help that I could give. This situation is rough, but I realized through doing this show that it is only as rough as you make it. Do I think some things should have been fabricated so I could really show off all my skills? Yes. But through this design, and brand I found myself mimicking my designs. Meaning I gained courage, passion, and power along with my brand. It’s as if I was growing this brand, the brand was growing me. This final project will always have a special place in my heart because it was a shining star for me during a difficult time.
